Overview:
GitHub is seeking a visionary and operationally-driven leader to be the strategic anchor of our global Revenue organization. As the Senior Director of Revenue Strategy & Planning, you will be responsible for building and leading a world-class organization that sets the direction and provides the operational blueprint for our entire go-to-market (GTM) engine.
This high visibility leadership role is responsible for setting the vision and leading the teams that oversee our most critical strategic functions: long-range and annual planning, workforce management, and GTM strategy. You will be a key member of the Revenue leadership team and a trusted advisor to our Chief Revenue Officer, responsible for ensuring that our GTM strategy is sound, our investments are optimized, and our operational plan is set up to achieve our ambitious growth targets.
Responsibilities:
Executive Leadership & Vision:
- Set the charter and vision for the unified Strategy & Planning organization, fostering a culture of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team, including managing other leaders across the Planning, Workforce Management, and Strategy functions.
- Serve as a key advisor to the Revenue Leadership Team, providing critical insights and recommendations on all aspects of GTM strategy and business performance.
Strategic & Annual Planning:
- Oversee the entire annual GTM planning process, ensuring the seamless integration of financial targets, headcount plans, sales territories, and strategic initiatives into one cohesive operational plan.
- Drive the long-range planning process, identifying future growth horizons and the investments required to win them.
Workforce Management & Investment:
- Lead the workforce management function, which is responsible for our global headcount and capacity modeling, productivity analysis, and resource allocation strategy.
- Champion our data-driven investment framework (MDUs) to ensure we are deploying our people against the largest market opportunities.
GTM Strategy & Insights:
- Direct the strategy function responsible for identifying and analyzing new growth opportunities, evaluating competitive threats, and tackling the most pressing challenges facing the business.
Cross-Functional Alignment:
- Forge a deep partnership with the Compensation team to ensure incentive structures are tightly aligned with the annual plan and strategic goals.
- Act as the primary liaison between the Revenue organization and key partners in Finance, HR, and Corporate
- Strategy to drive alignment on targets, investments, and company-wide objectives.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- 12+ years experience in marketing, strategy, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years experience in marketing, strategy, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
OR Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in marketing, strategy, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
OR Doctorate in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in marketing, strategy, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
OR equivalent experience.
2+ years people management experience, including direct responsibility for managing other managers (i.e., leading leaders).
4+ years experience in Strategy, Management Consulting, and/or Finance.
4+ years experience in the software industry (e.g., SaaS-based products).
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience managing a workforce planning, sales strategy, and compensation function.
Experience leading GTM planning and strategy for a large-scale, enterprise B2B SaaS organization.
Experience operating at both the strategic and tactical levels, with a strong command of financial and operational metrics.
Executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus among senior leaders.
5+ years people management experience (leading leaders) including remote management experience.
Experience in a company that effectively blends Product-Led Growth (PLG) with traditional enterprise sales motions.
Compensation Range:
The base salary range for this job is USD $141,700.00 - USD $375,800.00 /Yr.
These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
