About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Support Specialist to join our Information Technology and Research (IT&R) Section. As a System Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing technical support and services to our customers, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and debugging of legacy applications. You will also be responsible for systems analysis and design, software maintenance, and business analysis for complex software applications. Key Responsibilities Provide Tier 2 technical support to customers, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and debugging of legacy applications Actively participate as part of a small, diverse, and highly collaborative technical team that serves the Department Maintain support logs and system documentation, and escalate and track system issues when necessary Gather, document, and clarify business requirements for the design, construction, and installation of new or small enhancements to existing data system components Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and provide solutions that meet their requirements Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the field, and apply this knowledge to improve our systems and services Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to have: Four (4) years of information systems experience in IT customer or system support, programming, business analysis, and IT systems analysis and design OR an associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field, and two (2) years of information systems experience OR a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field Strong technical skills, including proficiency in software development, systems analysis, and design Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and stakeholders Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines Preferred Qualifications We are looking for candidates who have: IT customer or system support experience at an expert level, with high proficiency in technical details of complex data systems Programming experience in languages such as .Net, Cold Fusion, and PL/SQL Business analysis experience, including identification of business needs, eliciting, and documenting information technology requirements IT systems analysis and design experience, including architecting the physical implementation and integration of small and medium-sized solutions Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions Experience with software maintenance principles, troubleshooting principles, and system documentation What We Offer In return for your skills and experience, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including: 11 paid holidays per year 8 hours of vacation per month, eligible to be used after 6 months of service 8 hours of sick leave per month, eligible to be used as accrued 24 hours of personal business leave per fiscal year, eligible to be used after 6 months of service Pension and retirement programs A competitive benefits package Opportunities for advancement and professional development A dynamic and supportive work environment Career Growth Opportunities We are committed to helping our employees grow and develop in their careers.
