Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a motivated and dynamic Senior Architectural Historian for our Cultural Resources Team. The qualified candidate will work in close coordination with our diverse team of historians and with Senior Project Management on a range of cultural resources documentation projects.
This role can be fully remote.
Your Key Responsibilities
Conduct and direct background research and built environment fieldwork
Develop contextual analyses
Make recommendations regarding eligibility under the National Register of Historic Places
Oversee the development of background studies, historic resources survey reports, historic context statements, and National Register eligibility evaluations
Coordinate with other staff to ensure the quality of data, fieldwork, and documentation
Contribute to or lead business development endeavors by preparing scopes of work, budgets, proposals, statements of qualifications, and presentations to clients, in collaboration with leadership
Provide management support to field teams and subcontractors
Manage and mentor team members
Additional duties may include local and National Register of Historic Places nominations, preservation plans, historic structure reports, cultural resource education materials, Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record (HABS/HAER) documentation, planning and implementing of mitigation, and other types of special projects
Requires field work and out-of-town travel
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Excellent organization, coordination, management, and leadership skills
Demonstrated technical leadership and writing skills
Experience preparing and managing budgets and proposals
Strong ability to motivate staff and promote teamwork within and across offices
Excellent verbal and written communication
Valid driver's license and good driving record required
Education and Experience
The successful applicant will meet, at a minimum, the Secretary of the Interior's Qualifications Standards for history or architectural history
Graduate degree in Historic Preservation, Public History, or closely related field
6 or more years of professional experience
Knowledge and experience working with Section 106 of National Historic Preservation Act
Other Desired Experience
Previous experience conducting Section 106 report documentation and survey work for DOTs and/or other federal or state governmental agencies
Experience with historic resource database management
Experience working with infrastructure and transportation-related projects
Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in complex CRM projects
Project management experience, including a proven ability to be on time and on budget
This position works in both field and office settings. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather, remote locations, summer heat, rough terrain; as well as bending, stooping, carrying field equipment, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.

Salary Range(s):
$79,600 per year - $119,400 per year (CA, CO, WA locations only)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
