Basic experience, skills, and training with fundamental knowledge of cleaning, floor and restroom care, and equipment maintenance preferred. Desire to learn the trade and further knowledge through off-duty study and trade school/courses. Able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolding. Ability to lift and /or carry heavy objects (up to 35 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet). Must be willing to work in undesirable locations/conditions. Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions and carry out assignments on time. Able to work well with others. ssigned duties of Cherokee County Board of Education.<br><br><strong>GOAL<br><br></strong>Maintain a healthy, safe, functional, and attractive environment for students, visitors, and employees through regular cleanliness and regular maintenance of school district facilities.<br><br><strong>Representative Duties & Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Accept direction from Head Custodian, Supervisor, or Administrator. </li><li>Perform custodial and preventative maintenance duties in all areas/locations of the District. </li><li>Clean woodwork, walls, furniture, and windows using approved equipment and cleaning products. </li><li>Mop, scrub, strip, wax, shampoo, vacuum, and spot-clean carpeting and floors, using manual and power equipment. </li><li>Climb and clean multilevel stairwells; climb a ladder or steps to complete tasks. </li><li>Perform physical tasks as required including: walking on even/uneven surfaces, standing/bending repeatedly for extended times. </li><li>Keep equipment and supplies in order; maintains an inventory of supplies; restocks and requests/orders supplies when needed. </li><li>Understands, communicates, and follows oral and written instructions. </li><li>Work with approved cleaning fluids, chemicals, cleaning agents, or similar solutions using only normal protective equipment to maintain facilities. </li><li>Arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, activities, and events. </li><li>Move furnishings as required for routine and major cleaning. </li><li>Operate small equipment, common hand tools, and machinery with care in performing assigned cleaning tasks. </li><li>Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns to resolve issues and maintain a functioning educational environment. </li><li>Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position. </li><li>Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, dependable, and punctual manner. </li><li>Participate in required training programs and on-the-job training to increase proficiency; and apply what is learned to the job. </li><li>Maintain security and accountability for keys, alarm codes, equipment, and supplies. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of information and adheres to chain of command. </li><li>Act in a professional manner and maintain a professional attitude toward students, colleagues, administration, and the public. </li><li>Review current developments, literature, and technical source information related to the job. </li><li>Ensure adherence to established safety procedures. </li><li>Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. <br><br></li></ul><strong>IMPORTANT NOTES<br><br></strong><strong>Essential Duties<br><br></strong>Job descriptions are designed and intended only to summarize the essential duties, responsibilities, qualifications, and requirements for the purpose of clarifying the general nature and scope of a position’s role as part of the overall organization.
