Work opportunities are directly related to Seattle Center event schedules so hours of work will vary. Intermittent shifts are available on days, evenings, holidays, and weekends.<br><br>Job Responsibilities<br><br><strong>Here Is More Of What You Will Be Doing<br><br></strong><ul><li>Provide information about parking, events, and facilities. </li><li>Sell parking and make change accurately and quickly. </li><li>Prepare and submit bank deposit paperwork. </li><li>Greet patrons in a friendly and welcoming manner.</li><li>Enforce facility rules and regulations. </li><li>Prepare facility for daily operation by setting appropriate signage.</li><li>Check facility for vandalism and pick up trash.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong>Minimum Qualifications<br><br><ul><li>Requires a minimum of six (6) months of customer service experience (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).<br><br></li></ul>You will be successful in this role if you have:<br><br><ul><li>Experience working in a public parking facility is a plus.</li><li>The ability to make change quickly and accurately.</li><li>Provide owned and insured vehicle for use during work.</li><li>Possess a current Washington Driver’s License and an excellent driving record.</li><li>Willing and able to work irregular hours, including holidays, days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.</li><li>Proven experience serving a diverse customer base. </li><li>Friendly, respectful, and courteous communication skills.</li><li>Be available to work 180 hours annually, 45 hours in each calendar quarter (per union contract).<br><br></li></ul><strong>Work Environment/Physical Demands<br><br></strong><ul><li>Must be willing and able to lift and/or move loads of up to 40 pounds.</li><li>Must be able to stand, walk or bend for extended periods of time.</li><li>Willing to work outdoors for extended periods of time in all kinds of weather conditions.</li><li>Work around cars amidst exhaust fumes and in traffic.</li><li>Employees must be available during each of the days during: Bumbershoot; Folklife; Bite of Seattle; and all holidays, including New Year’s Eve.<br><br></li></ul>Additional Information<br><br><strong>Additional Information<br><br></strong>This is an intermittent/on-call position with no guaranteed minimum number of hours. Hours are based on event schedules at Seattle Center.<br><br>The full salary range for this position is $25.98-$30.40 per hour. Temporary employees begin at step 1, which is $25.98 hourly. Intermittent employees do not get salary step increases. <strong>You'll also get premium pay that increases the more hours you work. (Starts at an additional 5% on top of your base rate, up to 25%!)<br><br></strong>This recruitment will be posted until filled. Current City of Seattle Employees in a driving position may be required to submit an updated abstract.<br><br><strong>Pre-Employment Physical</strong> - Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment physical.<br><br><strong>Background Check</strong> - This position involves background check of conviction and arrest records in compliance with Seattle’s Fair Chance Employment Ordinance, SMC 14.17.
