Position Summary

An Electrician Level 3 is responsible for leading a team of electricians and ensuring that all electrical systems are installed, maintained, and repaired according to safety codes and established guidelines.

The Electrician Level 3 job description includes responsibility for completing project plans, coordinating workflow and resources, and overseeing the installation of electrical systems on multiple construction sites. They may also provide training and supervision to electricians, coordinate with Client/Owners and General Contractors on site, and manage materials and orders for electrical equipment and supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and coordinating the work of electrical crews on multiple sites.
  • Maintaining project schedules and ensuring that work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Interpreting plans, designs, and specifications to ensure that electrical systems are installed according to plan
  • Communicating with other contractors and construction managers to ensure that electrical work is coordinated with other trades
  • Training electrical technicians and apprentices
  • Ensuring that electrical work meets all safety regulations and codes.
  • Ordering and maintaining an inventory of electrical supplies and equipment.
  • Inspecting work for quality and ensuring that all work meets customer expectations.
  • Troubleshooting problems with electrical systems and equipment
  • Keeping accurate records of work done and materials used for billing and reference.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members on project-related tasks.
  • Plan and coordinate electrical projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and local electrical codes.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues promptly to ensure optimal system performance.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical project management, with a proven track record of successful project completion.
  • Must have an active Certified General Electrician License.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring methods.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Understanding of project management principles and practices.
  • Proficient in the use of industry-standard software for project planning and documentation.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting electrical systems and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Manual Dexterity: The position demands a high level of manual dexterity for the handling and manipulation of various tools and equipment.
  • Keyboarding: Constant use of keyboards with both hands is expected, particularly for project planning, documentation, and communication.
  • Reaching: Occasionally, the Electrical Foreman may need to reach above shoulder level, such as when inspecting or installing electrical components.
  • Frequent Below-Shoulder Reaching: Frequent reaching below shoulder level is expected, particularly when working with electrical panels and systems.
  • Field Work: Overseeing electrical projects in various locations and environments.
  • Office Setting: Some tasks, such as project planning, design work, and documentation, may be performed in an office setting.
  • Travel: Regular travel to project sites, client meetings, and other locations may be required.
