Strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.<br><br>Job Description<br><br>This position is responsible for supporting the work of the Certification and Membership Qualifications Division with the overall leadership in the work of the guiding local member associations in accountability to policy, governance and Membership Qualification. This position will support the Divisions work with the Governance and Qualifications Advisory Committee, supporting the development of policies and procedures that will strengthen YMCA movement nationally. The Director, Certification and Membership Qualifications will monitor how local associations comply with the qualifications of membership and how they demonstrate a commitment to delivering on the Y mission, protecting the Y brand, and assuring long-term sustainability.<br> <br>YMCA of the USA is a work from anywhere in the U.S. workplace.<br><br>Qualifications<br> <br><ul> <li>A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required; master's degree preferred.</li> <li>Organizational leader certification preferred.</li> <li>Requires at least 10 years of leadership experience, including local YMCA association management.</li> <li>Superior communication skills, including oral and written abilities.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and communicate strategies to others.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and presentations and to bring groups to consensus and decisions.</li> <li>Must have experience presenting to local YMCA board of directors.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability working closely with a diverse group of high-profile individuals within member associations, volunteers, national board directors, and Y-USA senior executives.</li> <li>Proven ability to facilitate and coach senior executives.</li> <li>Strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication, and presentation skills</li> <li>Strong project management skills.</li> <li>Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience with selection, assessment, onboarding, training, and coaching direct reports.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to influence others to achieve objectives.</li> <li>Strong organizational and time management skills.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to adapt and thrive in changing environment and circumstances.</li> <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and various electronic methods of communication.</li> <li>Commitment to the YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.</li> </ul><br><br>Essential Functions<br> <br><ul> <li>Provide leadership to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of National Council Governance and Membership Qualifications Committee (GQ) Policies and Procedures that support membership qualifications and organizational best practices.</li> <li>Collaborate across YUSA teams to identify YMCAs at high risk for noncompliance of membership standards and/or challenged to comply, utilizing comprehensive analysis and approved Y-USA methodology.</li> <li>Activate appropriate support for Ys on compliance probation, members not in good standing or identified as needing mandatory intervention in partnership with our Thriving Y/Operational Excellence team.</li> <li>Provide strategy, direction, and supervision to the membership compliance team and the overall association qualification efforts of YMCA of the USA.</li> <li>Provide staff leadership to the National Council Governance and Membership Qualifications Committee (GQ) and related Advisory Committee structure (GQ-AC).</li> <li>Manage policy review and new policy proposal efforts through an operational lens to ensure positioning is aligned with industry practices and supports local Y implementation.</li> <li>Develop and implement a communication strategy to increase the awareness of NCMS policies and procedures, among local YMCA staff and volunteers, state alliances, and other YMCA of the USA staff.</li> <li>Lead efforts to implement, monitor, review, and enhance GQ Policies and Procedures Manual.</li> <li>Review, modify, and enhance the process related to association membership criteria and compliance procedures.</li> <li>Support new YMCA development and service area management in collaboration with YUSA staff and state alliances.</li> <li>Analyze and provide information on the compliance status of member associations.</li> <li>Ensure certifications and collection efforts of the YMCA of the USA are efficient and effectively coordinated between departments and individuals.</li> <li>Ensure that data collection used to evaluate membership compliance reflects the highest level of data quality and integrity possible. Work collaboratively to ensure that the use and applications built to support the movement and consulting staff are effective.</li> <li>Develop and execute a plan for information and knowledge sharing in line with Y-USA's knowledge and data sharing strategies.</li> <li>Identify strategic opportunities for consideration that will align our GQ policies and procedures with the current landscape as well as future developments.</li> <li>Position GQ as a trusted partner within our distributed service delivery model.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <br><br>The work in this role will ensure safe, relevant, and sustainable YMCAs which serves the entire community and addresses critical community needs.
