Cashier - Part-Time - Evening Shifts and Saturdays

Job Description:

We are seeking a friendly and efficient part-time Cashier to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have a strong attention to detail.
Position Overview:

Provide an outstanding customer service experience by greeting, assisting with locating merchandise or services, helping with buying decisions, and thanking all customers. Assure all customer needs are met by asking open-ended questions in regard to their activity, project, event, or need. Merchandise the sales floor to maintain a clean, organized, and inviting shopping experience.
Live the Smith and Edwards Lifestyle, individuals with extensive knowledge and/or experience in regards to the great outdoors, camping, western lifestyle, etc. will be given preference.
Build positive relationships with our customers and community. Ask questions, learn our customers’ names, and be sure all their needs are met. Give each and every customer a personal shopping experience.
Support the store management team by meeting sales goals, processing merchandise returns, performing inventory cycle counts, and demonstrating trustworthiness and reliability
Responsibilities:
  • Operate cash register and handle cash transactions with customers
  • Scan goods and collect payments
  • Issue receipts, refunds, change or tickets
  • Redeem coupons and vouchers
  • Make sales referrals, cross-sell products, and introduce new ones
  • Resolve customer complaints, guide them, and provide relevant information
  • Greet customers when entering or leaving the store
  • Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
  • Track transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepancies
  • Bag, box, or wrap packages
  • Handle merchandise returns and exchanges
Requirements:
  • Preferred working experience in retail cashier or sales
  • Basic PC knowledge and familiarity with electronic equipment (e.g. cash register, scanners, money counters, etc)
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Customer satisfaction-oriented
  • Attention to detail and mathematical skills
  • Sales skills
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
Physical Requirements
The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs frequently
  • Ability to sand for an extended period of time
  • Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and performing all functions as set forth.
Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.
Pay and Benefits:
Starting pay from $11 per hour depending on experience. Bonus opportunities.
Benefits - Closed Sundays, great employee discount, advancement opportunities.
Store hours:
Hours of operation are 9 am - 8 pm Monday - Friday. 9 am - 6 pm Saturday. Closed Sundays and major holidays.
Saturday availability is required. Must have availability within store hours.
